This Spanish cooperative is engaged in the cultivation, processing and marketing of a wide variety of agricultural products. Its registered head office as well as its factory is located in Merida, in the province of Badajoz. Established in 1991, the cooperative comprises approximately 17 members with more than 2,000 farmers in the Vegas of the Guadiana and the Tagus in Extremadura. Its member locations include Valdetorres, Puebla de la Calzada, Talavera la Real, Guareña, Villanueva de la Serena, Torremayor, Calamonte, Santa Amalia, Arroyo de San Serván, Torrefresnada, and Fregenal de la Sierra. The company produces ACOPAEX extra virgin olive oil, with an annual production capacity of approximately 720,000 tons. Its oil production has been certified in accordance with ISO 9001:2000 international standards. The company exports approximately 80 percent of its production, mainly to European countries. Its oil products are available in 0.75-liter and 0.50-liter bottle packaging. In addition, the company markets fruits and vegetables (stone fruits, nectarines, peaches, plums, pears, apricots, cherries, tomatoes, broccoli, zucchini, and pepper) with absolute freshness guarantee. Its fruit plantation covers approximately 185 hectares for plum, 200 hectares for peaches, 85 hectares for nectarine, 35 hectares for pears, 5.0 hectares for apricots and 1.0 hectare for cherries. The company also handles the drying, storage and marketing of oilseeds, white corn, winter cereals, and rice. Additional products for marketing include pesticides (in partnership with Belchim, Lainco, Promisol, and Inabon Aragro), fertilizers (in partnership with YARA) and diesel fuel.
